1. BAGGAGE CLAIMS
Here you can find out what to do, should your checked baggage be missing upon arrival, arrive damaged, or have contents missing.
Please report the loss of or damage to your baggage directly at the airport. The Baggage Claims counter at the airport will provide you with immediate assistance.
If you did not report the incident at the airport, you can make a claim in writing, within the legal notification deadlines, to our Customer Relations Department: Czech Airlines, P.O. Box 757, 111 21 Prague 1, Czech Republic. Fax: +420 296 341 621.
In addition, you will need to prove a causal connection between the reported damage and the corresponding carriage.
You will receive an answer within a month.
For more detailed information and assistance with your delayed, lost, or damaged luggage, please contact us. Please have the Property Irregularity Report (PIR) or baggage tag number ready before you call us.
You can submit your complaints, claims, or other comments to us electronically, by completing the following form.
Please observe the following deadlines:
Damage and items missing from your bags - within 7 days of the delivery of your baggage
Expenses directly resulting from the delay of your baggage - within 21 days of the delivery of your baggage
Claims for damages expire 2 years after arrival at the destination, or estimated arrival, or 2 years after the carriage was terminated.
Compensation
Should you not have insurance that covers you for any relevant loss, you may claim from us for:
- Lost bags
- Damaged bags
- Items missing from your bags
- Expenses directly resulting from the delay of your baggage
Claims do not apply to damage caused by the contents of your bag, or to the damage or loss of fragile and valuable items inside the bag. For further details concerning our liability, please check our Conditions of Carriage (viz. 2.9, 3.2, 3.3).
1. If your baggage has been delayed
If your baggage has been delayed, we will deliver it to you when it arrives. In the unlikely event that your bag should not be located within 2 days, please send us a letter of inventory, with information regarding the age and value of the contents and the baggage. Please also enclose the Property Irregularity Report (PIR), passenger receipt, boarding pass, and tag number. Send these documents to our fax: 00420 296 341 621.
2. If your baggage has been lost
Should your baggage not be found and delivered to you within 21 days of the submission of the report at the airport, it shall be considered to have been lost, and you shall be entitled to financial compensation.
3. If your baggage has been damaged
Damage should be reported at the airport immediately upon arrival. If, for some reason, this was not possible, please submit your claim in writing to our Customer Relations - Baggage Service, within 7 days.
4. If there is something missing from your bag
Should some or all of the contents of your bag be missing, due to damage or theft, this should be reported at the airport immediately upon arrival. Pilferage that was not reported at the time of arrival can still be reported in writing within 7 days, to our Baggage Service.
5. Necessary documents
- Property Irregularity Report (PIR) or Damage Report, issued at the airport
- Air tickets and boarding cards
- Baggage tags
- Receipts for your baggage and its contents
- Address, phone number, and bank details (IBAN)
